European Digital Sovereignty - AEDH Open Letter to the European Commission and the Council 
19 June 2018 – Ahead of the European Council on 28 and 29 June 2018 where European leaders will discuss about digital Europe, AEDH sent out an open letter to the President of the European Commission as well as to the Member States advocating for the adoption of ambitious decisions in order to ensure a proper digital sovereignty in Europe and hence a better protection of the personal data of European residents.

4 June 2018 - Liga voor Mensenrechten (BE) met Fionnuala Ní Aoláin, the United Nation special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terroris. She shares concerns with LIGA in regard to: ethnic profiling, which contributes to anti-terrorist laws and policies that stigmatise particularly the Muslim population; the absence of de-radicalisation programmes in the prison system; ant the challenge for the Belgian authorities to deal with the return of Syrians and their children.

LDH (BE) - Is a human being still a human being?
2018 - In collaboration with LIGA, Belgian LDH publishes a carte blanche for the funeral of little Mawda, who was killed by a policeman during the interception of a van transporting migrants. Her parents and brother fled the war zone in Iraqi Kurdistan. Belgian LDH warns against a dehumanisation process used by some politicians in which refugees are no longer recognised as human beings but as "problematic flows".

The Swiss League for Human Rights - contests and calls for the cancellation of the special flight to Sudan from Switzerland

9 April 2018 - The Swiss League for Human Rights contests and calls for the cancellation of the special flight to Sudan from Switzerland due to the risk of internment and torture for the returnees. Amnesty International's report 2017/18 denounces the "catastrophic" security and humanitarian situation in Darfur and the Blue Nile and South Kordofan states, and warns against "arbitrary arrests, detention and other human rights violations perpetrated by security forces" and the restriction of "rights to freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly".
